Colorado Democrats blast the decision on oil and gas drilling on the plateau.

The Bush administration Thursday rejected environmental safeguards proposed by Gov. Bill Ritter for oil and gas drilling on Colorado's Roan Plateau — sparking outcry from environmental and political leaders.

The Bureau of Land Management stuck to its original plan to allow drilling on the top of the wildlife-rich plateau near Rifle, limiting disturbances by well pads and roads to 350 acres at any one time. Read more.

 

It looks like the fight over the Wyoming Range is almost over.

Two weeks ago, a hearing was held in Washington D.C. on the Wyoming Range Legacy Act of 2007, an act that will help spare at least one space from pillage. Read more.
